The purpose of this Forum is firstly for the betterment of Kinesiology as a health modality in view of the present direction the complementary therapy industry is heading and secondly for the benefit of Kinesiology Practitioners, including the RTOs, course authors and instructors.

The Institute believes that for Kinesiology to grow and mature Kinesiology Practitioners must nurture and build the profession. This can only come from the industry placing Kinesiology and Kinesiology Practitioners first. This principle must be borne in mind when initiating any policies and initiatives. By doing so it will prevent any future division in Kinesiology, ensuring prosperity and sustainability. Only then can we take charge of our destiny and not being dictated to by the outside forces.

So as part of the process to revolutionise the Kinesiology profession The Institute would like to invite you all to a Forum on the 17th of September 2009 in Sydney.

The Institute's view and direction of where Kinesiology is heading, where it needs to go and its offer to RTOs and Course authors and Instructors will be unveiled.

The Institute strives to provide services that are real and tangible, and certainty and stability are also part of that service.
So come and join The Institute at the Forum to celebrate the new dawn in Kinesiology and the new direction for Kinesiology Practitioners.

News From Newcastle

The Newcastle Region Branch President, Pete Henry, has been very busy promoting and marketing Kinesiology, Kinesiology practitioners in the area and The Institute.

The article in the Herald was quickly followed up by an interview with the local ABC Radio recently. Interestingly, the interview was as a result of Kinesiology having a nationally recognized overseeing Body - The Institute - with proper Constitution, By-Laws, code of ethics and code of conduct.

And now with the private health funds Accreditation the solid foundation of framework to forge ahead to strengthen Kinesiology and Kinesiology practitioners have been established.

AN AUSTRALIAN FIRST!

Invited by MBF Insurance Company to mini EXPO at Chermside MBF Office Saturday 20th June 2009

About 2 months ago MBF Chermside Office approached me to bring along to their office 2-3 fellow Kinesiologists to hold a mini Expo for their Members and passing people In the Chermside Shopping Centre, on Saturday 20th June from 9am to 2pm.  I contacted a few of our Professional Members to assist me.  Marney Perna, Christine Morgan and  Sally Young all obliged.  It was a great opportunity to put the Australian Institute of Kinesiologists Ltd out there for the public, with MBF supporting us.

I arrived at the MBF Office at Chermside at about 8.45am this morning on Saturday 20th June. Marney Perna was already there setting up when I arrived.  There were also 3 Reflexologists there sharing the office floor.

AS we are now recognised by MBF as a professional Kinesiology body after a successful lobby to their Company they are now wanting to promote natural therapies cover for their members.  Our purpose was to share Kinesiology with their members coming into their office so they can benefit from the additions to their policies.

As a way to promote the event, the MBF office had printed 30,000 flyers which had been distributed in the free local paper for people to come and experience free treatments.  Unfortunately the name of kinesiology was missing but probably would mean little to many people anyway.

I also took a few books with me, the Green TFH Book (old one) and the new TFH book for people to see the ?evidence?, as well as Walther's Applied Kinesiology Synopsis,
Along with my ?Learning to Learn? book and Hyperton-X Manuals.   I printed out a flyer for myself.

Christine Morgan and Sally arrived later and began to give out our new Kinesiology postcard, designed by our own Jennifer Kusmenko, as well as her own flyers.  We talked to about 100 people, some only briefly as we handed out literature.  Most were very interested.  We treated about 20 people, most for about 10 minutes.

We all left at 2pm as the MBF doors closed.

As an exercise in promotion and marketing I felt it was a success.  The MBF staff were pleased with our presentation and said they would like to work closely with our Kinesiology Members.  This approach to marketing via the Insurance Funds themselves may work in other areas of Australia.  We can now canvas Medibank Private, Australian Unity and MBF.
